Alphabet Soup and Working Titles

As we approach version 1.0 of RPCS, it's time to start seriously thinking about a name.

The thing is this: in second life we have: WARPS, CCS, DCS, RPS, ... what else? Gobs and gobs of acronyms. So, in launching RPCS a couple months back in beta, we went with a nice simple acronym as the working title.

Now it's time to come up with a real name for the system. I've been brainstorming with folks, but don't have an answer yet. After all, we're looking to make this the premier roleplaying system used in second life, and there's still a LOT of features to come before we're there. So, I'm putting on my brainstorming cap, and others are as well. We'd like your suggestions. What do you think? Is it possible to get away from the acronym soup?

I'm asking our players for suggestions. If we pick yours we'll give you a bundle of RPCS enhanced weapons worth $5,000L. Just to make it worth your time. Thanks!

There is a combat meter, one that I was formerly a dev for that is in use on about 20 or so sims that is very close, RPS(tm) by Kenn Nillson and AeonVox(tm). Officially it's BNJRPS(TM) but it's usually shortened to RPS(TM) by it's users and the developer.

Thus I can see why you'd not want to be close to any of the others out there. I can also see the need to break the mold and go to something non-acronym. Especially when most of the acronyms are really initialisms, as an acronym needs to be a word made up of the initials of the other words (WARPS is the only real acronym on the list).

My suggestion: good enough for ships, planes, sattelite systems...

One word derived from the french Avant-garde, which means: pertaining to people or works that are experimental or innovative.

In english this is usually expressed as

... Vanguard

Hiya, I was trying to think of something that captured the idea of combat as well as the notion of acting/role-playing. 2 suggestions:

1) Theatre of War.
2) StageFight (probably a bad pun on the phrase 'stage fright').

best wishes!

I hope not to offend anybody by my suggestion, as it refers to religion.

DEACON - A layperson who assists the priest or minister in various functions.

I just thought it might be fitting as it assists characters during roleplay. It's simple and it's kinda catchy.

- Belladonna.
